Watch: Funicular fun in focus at Scarboroughpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 19 September 2017
14:40 BST 19 September 2017
Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at Scarborough's famous cliff-top railways?
Properly known as funiculars, the carriages take passengers from cliff-top to beach via a very steep descent.
Apparently the ropes attached to the carriage can hold the weight of 25 fully grown elephants.
Should that ever be necessary, however, I'd be more concerned to find out why 25 elephants were storming around the sea front at Scarborough...
Anyway, take a look here to find out more about how it all works:

Complaints about West Yorkshire Police increasepublished at 13:54 British Summer Time 19 September 2017
13:54 BST 19 September 2017
The number of people who have lodged formal complaints about West Yorkshire Police has risen in the last year, according to the police watchdog.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) says there were 2,167 recorded complaints about the force in total over the last year - that's an increase of 16%.
The IPCC says West Yorkshire Police formally investigated 30% of the complaints made against its officers, with 58% being dealt with less formally with "local resolution".
The watchdog warns that the number of recorded complaints may not reflect the whole picture, because some forces try to address issues before they are recorded as a formalcomplaint.
The commission adds that there will be changes to the complaints system next year:

The new system will be simpler and more flexible, and will also provide an independent appeal right for everyone, either to the IPCC or to a Police and Crime Commissioner."
