BURNS RANCH TO FEATURE ANOTHER GREAT CONSIGNMENT

AT 20TH ANNUAL LOS ALAMITOS EQUINE SALE ON OCTOBER 5 & 6

The 20th annual Los Alamitos Equine Sale is full of tremendous racing prospect led by an all-star consignment from Burns Ranch. Owned by reigning and three-time AQHA champion breeder Dr. Steve Burns and his wife, Jo Rae, Burns Ranch is located in Menifee, California and is widely regarded nationally as one of the premier Quarter Horse stallion stations and breeding locations in the nation. Burns Ranch is the home of many of the country’s stallions led by the great Favorite Cartel and the promising young sires Golden Boi, Mental Error and Mpshinning. Mental Error’s first crop of yearlings are part of this catalog. Here are just some of Burns Ranch’s notable consignments set to be offered at this year’s Los Alamitos Equine Sale.

Hip #17 Mountain West is a colt by Favorite Cartel out of the prolific dam Tahma Hawk. Mountain West is a full brother to Grade 1 Leo Stakes winner The Swamp and half-brother to Governor’s Cup Futurity winner Constituent.

Hip #18 Straight Tequila is a filly by LQHBA Lousiana Million Futurity winner Mpshinning and out of two-time Grade 1 winner Tequila Sangria. This is the family of top stars Ynot Walk, Quirky, Mask Mandate, etc.

Hip #37 Bite The Dust is a colt by Favorite Cartel out of graded stakes placed mare Ynot Bar. He’s a full brother Grade 1 Mildred Vessels Memorial Handicap and Grade 1 Charger Bar Handicap winner Tequila Sangria and a half-brother to Los Alamitos Winter Derby winner Ynot Walk.

Hip #41 Otto Zone and Hip #42 Winter Storm are both by Favorite Cartel and out of You Can Fly, making them full siblings to Grade 1 Go Man Go Handicap winner You Can Run. Otto Zone is a colt while Winter Storm is a filly.

Hip #83 Muscle Max is a colt by Seperate Interest out of the longtime highly productive mare Corona Mas Fina. Muscle Max is a half-brother to Grade 2 Southern California Derby winner Uno Corona Mas, multiple G1 stakes placed mare Jess Mas, and current top juvenile Mas Prieta.

Hip #88 Errant Pass is a filly by young stallion Mental Error and out of the multiple stakes producing mare Dont Pass Bar. She’s the dam of G1 winner and AQHA champion aged mare Quirky and the grand-dam of 2024 Governor’s Cup Derby winner Mask Mandate.

Hip #91 Take The Jet, Hip #92 Outta Time and Hip #93 Exemplory are all out of Eagle On The Fly, the dam of multiple G1 finalist Eye On The Sky and multiple graded stakes finalists Xpensive and Blame The Fed.

Hip #95 Death Valley is a colt by Favorite Cartel out of the stakes winner Enjoy The Walk. Death Valley is a full brother to two-time Grade 1 winner Chocolatito, who ran in the Champion of Champions.

Hip #138 Laughlin, Hip #139 Liberal Bob and Hip #140 Mistaken are all out of winning mare Katie Katella. Laughlin and Liberal Bob are both colt by Favorite Cartel and are full brothers to iron horse and multiple stakes winner Cattail Cove. Mistaken is a filly sired by Mental Error. Katie Katella is also the dam of stakes winner Front And Center and Los Alamitos Super Derby runner-up Katella Deli.

Hip #150 Jess A Lookin is a colt by Apollitical Jess out of Look At Her, who is a daughter of the outstanding broodmare Look Her Over. This is the family of 2019 AQHA World Champion He Looks Hot and Grade 1 winner Once Over and stakes winners Watch Out and Take A Look.

Hip #174 Rite Or Wrong and Hip #175 Warm Springs are full sisters sired by Favorite Cartel and out of the champion Quirky. They’re also full sisters to 2024 Governor’s Cup Derby winner Mask Mandate.

Hip #177 I Bet The Queen and Hip #178 Accelerated are both by Favorite Cartel and out of American Quarter Horse racing’s all-time leading dam Remember Me Rose. I Be The Queen, who is a filly, and Accelerate, who is a colt, are full siblings to five Grade 1 stakes winner led by AQHA champion Cyber Attack, Bomb Cyclone, Powerful Favorite, Runforyoulife and Cyber Monday.

Hip #185 Carversteak is a filly by Mental Error out of Ruths Chris, who is the dam of multiple graded stakes winner Black Fryday and stakes winners Stripsteak and Fired.
